The lovely texture and comfortable wear are all pluses but there are a few issues here one of which is the fact this contains a high level of alcohol, a very strong fragrance, and sodium lauryl sulfate. I would highly recommend not getting this in your eyes though as it does sting horribly. The wear under makeup is good and I experienced no greasiness or shine as the day progresses. I typically apply it as the first step in my routine and by the time I get dressed and do my hair I can proceed with the rest of my skincare and makeup. It does take a little while to set and for the dewiness to disappear but the goods news is that it does after a few minutes. My skin is dry and this felt very, very hydrating but a bit greasy as well. The has a very nice texture but it applies quite greasy this is where you want to take the amount I used into consideration since it might be why I experienced such a slick mess during the initial application. I’m mentioning this because if you use less you might have a different experience with this formula than I did. I do take sunscreen very seriously and do use the recommended half teaspoon amount. I was concerned about white cast but once I applied and allowed it time to absorb the slight whitish cast it left on my skin disappeared quickly. The formula is a thicker gel that’s a very white in color with a slight pale blue-ish tone. Most people are comparing this formula to Japanese sunscreens and I sort of get it but I do think the Japanese still have a head up on SPF and this isn’t quite what you’d experience from cult favorites like Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+. Around that same time a Hydro Boost Skincare Collection so it was only a matte of time that the brand also added sunscreens the the Hydro Boost Collection. The Neutrogena Hydro Boost launched back in 2017 with a selection of hydrating makeup like Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint and Hydro Boost Hydrating Concealer. This is my least favorite product I've ever tried, hands down, which really sucks because I wanted to love it, I'd heard good reviews about it and I wanted a chemical sunscreen that worked for me.Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion Sunscreen SPF 50 ($9.99) is a new gel broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen that promises a waterproof sun protection with an oil-free formula that won’t clog pores. Good lord I can't even imagine trying to wear this under makeup. Now, just a little side note, I'm pretty sensitive to chemical sunscreens so the burning could just be my skin not reacting well to that, but the rest of it is just it being a bad product. It wasn't like burning it just made my face feel hot, not sure what you'd call that. Not to mention, it gave me a mild burning(?) sensation. I did some research and some websites said to let it sit for a certain amount of time, I did, and I was still incredibly greasy and IT STILL PILLED (although it wasn't as bad as before, still pilled pretty badly). I thought it could've been my skincare underneath, so I tried it by itself the next day, not any better. You literally can't touch, not even bump your face with anything, otherwise you come up with these stupid little pills. I go to try to wipe off some of the greasiness with my hand, and its pill city. I've waited like a good 30 minutes and it still hadn't dried down, I look pretty greasy and I feel extremely greasy, and I'm a pretty dry gal. I bought it, got home, and was super excited to slap on some sunscreen and get protected from the sun! (I tried it on my hand first dw, I know I know I didn't patch test but I only ended up wearing it for maybe an hour) It comes out a nice bluish liquidy lotion, and spreads out nicely. This is literally the worst sunscreen I have ever tried (and I've tried some super gross, goopy, thick, extreme white cast mineral sunscreens). In my quest for looking for a sunscreen I came across this NIGHTMARE. Posts without a valid tag will be removed by Automoderator.
